If you sell affiliate products online you are in competition with many other affiliates promoting the same product. As the price is fixed by the merchant you can not compete on price.
So how do you stand out amongst all the other affiliates? By adding extra value to your affiliate promotions.
One way of doing this is to create a bonus report to give away. By giving away a free report you are adding more value to your affiliate promotions than other affiliates as well as using the opportunity to state your views about the product you are promoting.
You can just take some articles you have previously written about the niche or product and turn them into free reports. However I suggest you also include a product review in these reports so that you can point out both the positives and negatives of the particular product. If you can then suggest solutions to the negatives it is even better. You can either offer these free reports to potential buyers and/or people who buy the affiliate products you recommend. You might even want to create different reports for both purposes.
If you create reports to give away free prior to purchase these reports must relate to the product you are promoting and include more information and benefits of the product. Try to think of ways of using the product that they may not have even considered. You should include references and your affiliate links to the products you are promoting plus links to other products that the customer might like to consider. However do not over do it and make your report look like a sales letter with way too many links as this can put people off buying.
People see more value in a product if it includes a bonus. However be aware that people are becoming wary of bonuses that add too much value to a product. I recently saw a product where the bonus was an expensive seminar that was worth many times the actual product. I was interested in the product but thought I really needed to be able to attend the seminar to get value out of the deal. As this was not possible I did not buy the product but looked for an alternative product instead.
Let people know that they need to contact you to get your bonus if they buy through your affiliate link. This gives you the opportunity to build a relationship with these people.
If you give your free reports a title unique to a particular product it will give it even more value. Include your name and a link to your website as well. Add permission for people to freely distribute your report so that they can send it to their friends and customers as well. People love to give stuff away so this adds even more value.
As it costs you nothing other than a bit of time to produce these free reports it is easy to gain an advantage with them over your other affiliate competitors. This not only increases your sales but also your customer satisfaction level.
Next time you promote an affiliate product for someone consider creating a free bonus report either to give away before a person buys or as a bonus if they buy their your affiliate link.
