Here is a way of shortening URLs

However even thought it shortens my URL from

http://urlfreeze.com/www.kerriesheehan.com/blog

to

http://urlfreeze.com/1/L-51/

the new URL looks rather ugly. However it’s great if you want to do what a lot of annoying internet marketers do. You know what I’m talking about – they like to use these shortened URLs with their mistery product emails so you will click on it to find out what it is.

However there is a better way to cloak your URLs.

First of all why cloak URLs?

1. It a lot harder for someone to work out what affiliate porgram you are using. For example it is just so easy for someone to change a clickbank hop link username to their own.

2. Cloaking if done correctly actually provides a much neater link than the original affiliate link and thus looks more professional.

3. Cloaking can also allow you to use keywords in the link that aids in selling the product.
for example my Clickbank ho link to a product called DLGuard is

http://keries.cbdmanager.hop.clickbank.net/

which I could change to

http://DLGuard.keries.com

so that you know I’m selling DLGuard.

What I have done here is create a subdomain called DLGuard on my main domain name and forwarded it to the clickbank hop link.

Another option is to purchase a domain name and have it forwarded to your affiliate link.

For example
http://www.wealthcreationforeveryone.com
is a domain name forwarded to an affiliate link.

There are lots of products on the market to cloak URLs but why buy them if what I have discussed above adequately cloaks you URLs for you.
