Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is considered by many to be difficult to understand. In this article I will discuss a practical and easy approach to applying SEO to your website and improve your organic search ranking.

To start I will discuss two factors to ensure you understand the basics of SEO. Search engine optimization involves “on-page” and “off page”, SEO.

On page SEO

You will need to have relevant keywords in your URL, in your title and heading tags. Use keywords in your internal linking structure and in anchor text links. The wording used should be your keyword or directly related. Create relevant content (more is better) on every web page and use your link structure as a road map.

By following these steps you are optimizing your website so that search engines can see your site is relevant to the search. Now that the search engines basically now your website exists you need to optimize your off page SEO to help improve your organic page ranking.

Off page SEO

You’re off page SEO should focus on building as many backlinks to website as possible. This can be done by writing articles about your product or service using the relevant keywords and then backlink these to your site. Then submit this content to an online article directory to be published on the internet. Social networking sites are all the rage today and just about all online businesses are taking advantage of this off page SEO. Videos are also a hot market to get your links out to the masses and that is what off page SEO is all about.

When you’re trying to get the name and message of your business out to as many people as possible, you are going to want to make sure that you are representing your business. You want to do this in a colorful and unique way, but you will also want to be informative. You want to let your clients know why your business is important to them and why you offer what no other business can offer. If your business has a website, then you probably already have this kind of information posted for public consumption. The bad news, however, is that you need to have this information out to the public before they visit your site. In other words, you need to give them a reason to visit your site in the first place. In this article you will learn why you should have an ebrochure or ibrochure for your business.

In case you don’t know, an ebrochure or ibrochure is just like a normal brochure, except it is distributed online. You can do everything on this kind of brochure that you can do on a conventional brochure and more. You can add videos and sound clips on the internet. The best part about these online brochures is that you can reach more people than you could have by using the conventional techniques. With the conventional brochures, you used to have to set them up in local shops and institutions and hope they would catch people’s eye. Nowadays, you can send the brochures through email. You can also post them on social networking sites. Instead of reaching between ten and thirty people per day, you can reach thousands and maybe millions of people. Read the rest of this entry

As an online business owner I am regularly asked “What is the best way to optimize a webpage to create traffic generation?” It’s not an easy answer because it depends on who is asking and what their knowledge or experience level is.

When it comes to search engine optimization there is no single method of success. However there are small steps everyone can do and then test the results to see if they are working. Make necessary adjustments when the results are not working and then test again. This may sound a bit hit and miss however it is really very sound advice.

Search engine optimization means making a webpage highly visible as possible to search engines for a given keyword or keyword phrase. Keep in mind that your visitor types in very specific keywords (search phrase) on search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing because they are looking for something very specific.

If you know your most important keyword phrase that is good. If not, use a free keyword tool like Google’s, just type in your search box, Google keyword tool and there it is. Learn to use it because in this business if you don’t you will never get much traffic to your online business.

Now enter in the keyword phrase that you think people are searching for to find your product or service. Then check how much traffic that keyword is getting. Now look to see how much competition that keyword is receiving. Typically short keywords also known as shot tail, are highly targeted and usually have too much competition for one to compete with. This means you are not likely to get on page one of a search. Therefore using long tail keywords might be the answer. The keyword tool may tell you that there is less traffic but also less competition. This is a good place to start your keyword testing. Read the rest of this entry

Search Engine Optimization, SEO is without question one of the most important tools in starting an online business. Using relevant keywords in your heading tags along with inserting anchor text links as an internal linking structure you are optimizing your website for better search results (SERPs). I think we all understand the value in a page one ranking of an internet search that cost you nothing.

The real trick of the trade comes with educating yourself in online marketing strategies. Keyword research is one area that cannot be over looked or misunderstood to be successful online. I am not going into detail here about how to do Keyword research, just that you understand the value of it.

When a relevant keyword phrase is used in your heading tag for each of your website pages you are beginning to optimize your site. Then by creating relevant keyword rich content and adding internal linking structure, search engines see this and the ranking begins. How you rank in (SERPs) the result depends largely on the amount of quality content you provide. It is not unusual for successful online business to create content a continual basis via article, videos etc… Read the rest of this entry

Your marketing campaigns are finally paying off and you are finally getting people buying your goods or services. Now you have heard that it is easier to market to a previous customer than to market to a new customer so it would be good if you could sell more of your goods or services to returning customers.

How to do get a customer to return to buy more from you?

You need to know what made them buy from you in the first place.

Easiest way is to ask them with a simple survey after they purchase your goods or services. Find out things like why they bought your products, why they need them and what else they are looking to buy. Finding this out will also help you market to more new customers as you will be able to build up a profile of your customers and target your marketing to suit. You will also get an idea of what else they require for future sales. Another good idea is to give them the opportunity to leave their name and email address for special deals and updates. This allows you to send your customers regular newsletters, special offers, details of new products and greetings for occasions like Christmas and Easter.

What are their future needs?

By finding out the future needs of your customers, their problems, frustrations and desires you will put yourself in a better position by being able to target them with the right goods at the right place at the right time. They will also be more inclined to pull out their credit cards for someone they can trust especially if you have looked after them following their initial purchase. If you have their name and email address you can send them targeted special offers and information on new products that you already know will interest them. Read the rest of this entry

Top Marketing FAQ – What is an RSS Feed?

The term RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication and is a standardized way of taking internet content from web-based media and making it available for syndication on other sites.

An RSS is an XML document known as a feed. This feed contains full or summarized content and makes it possible for another website to receive any updated news from your site to theirs.

Blogs and news sites are the most frequent users of this form of syndication. Most blog applications have the ability to provide a feed built right into the application making it very easy to syndicate your blog content.
To display an RSS feed on your website or blog, you would need to have a feed reader on your site. For bloggers, that is as easy as installing a plugin to their blogging platform.

The advantages to having the ability publish your content for syndication are many. It is a great way to drive traffic to your website, to stay in touch with your potential customers, to create backlinks on other sites, and to stay on visible within your chosen niche.

Why would you want to publish someone else’s RSS feed on your site? It is a way to keep your blog looking active without having to do the posting yourself. It also gives your visitors great value by providing the latest and most up-to-date news within your niche. If you have a website about small business, would your visitors not appreciate being able to read the top business news headlines on your site? Of course they would. They would soon learn to go to your website to find out what is happening today in your niche.

This is just one way you can get your business website noticed.

Is an internet business right for you?

With the economic times being as they are, so many people have turned to the internet to try to either supplement their income or trying to replace a lost job with an online business. Unfortunately, there are also an equal number of people willing to take their money by making outrageous promises of instant wealth with no work and no skills involved. “Internet marketing” has gotten a bum rap as a result.

True internet marketing is not the get rich quick schemes that have become the norm these day. Every business online is an internet marketer. It is not a profession, but a means of reaching your target market online. That being said, is internet marketing the right business for your personal skill set?

Do you want to make money on autopilot with no work or skills involved?

So many times, as a business coach, I hear people claiming they want to make money online but then hear that they do not want to create content, write articles or do social marketing. I find this very amusing. It is like having someone say they want to become a doctor but they really don’t want to examine patients.

If this is you, then you are not suited to internet marketing. You will be a buyer for the rest of your life. Seeking that magic button that you will be able to click and make money. Those buttons do not exist, by the way. Trying to run a business this way is no different than buying a lottery ticket to create wealth. Your chances are slim to none.

What do “Real” internet marketers do?

Real internet marketers understand that the internet is basically a huge resource library. They understand that they must provide useful information to their potential customers if they ever want to get noticed and make sales. Real online business people write articles, build websites, maintain active blogs, provide services, build an opt-in list to create relationships with potential customers and create products that solve problems. 5 Online Marketing Tips For Beginners

Unfortunately, like a lot of things in life, it is way too easy to get overwhelmed with all the stuff you need to learn to be successful marketing online. If you are not careful you will find yourself jumping from the latest “you beaut” product to the next and ultimately find yourself burnt out with information overload and nothing other than a full hard drive of digital products to show for your efforts.

Here are my five online marketing tips for beginners.

1. Find a marketing product or system that interests you and stick with it. Do not worry most systems will produce some results. Cancel all your email subscriptions if they distract you from your work or even worse tempt you into trying something else.

2. Take your time to learn your chosen marketing product or system as it will be a good grounding for your future marketing ventures. Stick with it and do not go from one system to the next because you are not a millionaire in 7 days or whatever the system promised in the sales letter. Short of a big lottery win this rarely happens especially to beginners.

3. Do not just read the manual or watch the videos but take action. Stop reading the manual or stop the video and do those steps you read about or watched before you go on to the next step. OK you website looks ugly or your new ebook has lots of blank pages but remember you are not going to be a success overnight, so do not expect to be.

4. Write down what you do so that you know what you did when something works then you can easily do it again. Your notes will also help work out where you went wrong and how you can fix it. Not only that your notes are original content so can form the beginnings of a future ebook, articles or video. OK back to reality that dream can wait.

5. Create value in everything do by adding your ideas and original content. Step back and ask yourself would you read it or buy it. If someone buys a product they will not like it if it is just has a new title and shiny new digital cover and they have read it a dozen times before. This may to be acceptable for giveaway products but it creates more value if you have something unique to giveaway as well.
