Linking is great if you know what you are doing. If you don’t then you create a huge mess. Linking does work but it has had changes since it first began being used.
The key to using links is using them in moderation. In the past, it was common practice to use thousands of links but as with many other things in the marketing world, limiting the number of links is the best method to use now.
The market today focuses on content not quantity. This is great news since you now have more space on your site and can remove the many links you have that aren’t really producing but you hated to remove them.
When you have a website with several pages, use links to the different pages. All the links will have different content describing the pages. This increases traffic to the site via the different pages and entices the people to browse through the rest of the website too.
Have one of the links to the homepage of your site. Deep linking is using the right link to the specific page on the website. This can be a link from within your site or from another site you have exchanged a link. Use relevant pages of content to link to your pages. Tell the sources of the links you are limiting the links for future sources and this will create others to want to add links to your site before you meet your quotas of links.
Using this method creates excitement from webmasters since you are placing their links on a website with limited links, which decreases their competition for users to select their links on your site. It also states to potential sites wanting to exchange links or add links that you are responsible and caring about the appearance of your site so they want to use the professional site you have created. Did you know that your website can be getting hits all day if your design is web search engine ranking friendly. You can make the best and most beautiful and informative website on the internet that people in your niche has ever seen but no one will ever see it if it isn’t search engine optimized. The prices that you have may be the best as well but unless you use some smart search engine optimization techniques no one will ever know.
The best kind of website promotion that you can have is making sure that it is built so that search engines find it attractive. It has to have your information phrased in such a way that the bots that they send out to see what types of information your website has will be ranked high in searches.
There are a couple things that you can do to help it be picked up by the search engines. One is to make the best usage of space on your website. Make sure that you have your keywords placed within the HTML code for your images, flash objects and videos. In the “alt” part of your HTML code place a description using the keywords or phrase. The search engines may not be able to read your graphics or see what words you have in your videos but they can see the HTML.
For improved website search engine ranking, you will also want to make sure that you are creating relevant title tags. This isn’t talking about the title that those viewing your website see, it is talking about the HTML tags that the search engines see that tell it what your site is all about. Some will have the same title tag for every page of their web site but doing so isn’t optimizing it for search engines. Each page should have it’s own unique HTML title tag relevant to the information on that page. That is guaranteed to make your web search engine ranking higher not only for your site but for that page in particular.
Make sure that you don’t have any duplicate information on your web pages. Don’t have the identical thing posted on different pages. This will not help draw attention to your website but may actually cause the bots to ignore your page. Also do not have hidden text in your page. Web builders in the past use to hide text in a page that viewers were unable to see but bots were able to pick up on and help with your web search engine ranking. Search engines caught on to this and now will hide web pages totally that it believes has hidden text in it.
These ideas are just a few of the necessary steps to help your search engine optimization efforts succeed. A web site design that isn’t using these techniques will not be making the most of any opportunities and may get you ignored by not just Google but Yahoo or any other search engines. Doing it correctly though and constantly finding ways to have your web site design optimized will help your web search engine ranking go through the roof.

If you are already running an Internet marketing campaign or are about to embark on an Internet marketing campaign, one concept you cannot afford to skimp on is search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is one of the most popular buzz words in Internet marketing but unfortunately most Internet marketers simply do not know enough about SEO to make this strategy work for them. Even those who are knowledgeable about SEO may have difficulty executing their SEO strategies to produce the desired affect.
Advertising is a very important part of running any type of business. You need to advertise to reach new customers and market your products or services. Whether you run your business online or not you probably already realize how important it is to advertise but if you are running your business online you should understand there is a great deal of free advertising available in the form of optimal search engine rankings.
Well known search engines such as Google rank websites according to complex algorithms which are designed to determine which websites are most relevant for particular search terms. Therefore taking the time and effort to optimize your website for relevant search terms may result in you being rewarded with high search engine rankings for these terms. This is important because most Internet users rely heavily on these rankings. It is not uncommon for Internet users to only review the first few results when they search for a particular term. This means if your website ranks high enough to appear on the first page of the search results you will likely enjoy increased website traffic. However, if your website doesn’t make it to the first page or even the second page, it is unlikely you will receive a great deal of website traffic from visitors who use search engines. You’ve just built your website and you want to show up on the search engines. You start reading about SEO and one of the first things that jumps out at you is something called “Google PageRank.” You know about the big dog of the search engines, but what is PageRank and why is it important in what you’re trying to do?
Any good marketing coach can explain that easily. If your site is placing high in free (organic) search results, you’re getting free advertising. Notice the word “free.” That’s always a good thing. Building a strong PageRank (PR) by getting good quality links coming in to your site takes time, but it isn’t going to eat a hole in your pocketbook.
You want to work on raising your site’s PR to get “authority” with the search engines. A site with “authority” gets better visibility in search results. Really understanding the algorithm behind your site’s PR will likely have you reaching for a bottle of aspirin. In the beginning, just concentrate on understanding the basics and how they relate to your efforts to promote your site.
How Is PR Defined?
Google says PR is all about the “uniquely democratic nature of the web” and “using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value.” Basically, a link from one page to another is a vote for that page. However, not all votes in this democracy are equal. Some votes come from higher-quality pages and are weighed more heavily. (Other factors in determining PR include the relevance of search phrases on a page and actual traffic to the page.) Read the rest of this entry
