Repeat Customers – How to Get Customers Back to Buy More?
Your marketing campaigns are finally paying off and you are finally getting people buying your goods or services. Now you have heard that it is easier to market to a previous customer than to market to a new customer so it would be good if you could sell more of your goods or services to returning customers.
How to do get a customer to return to buy more from you?
You need to know what made them buy from you in the first place.
Easiest way is to ask them with a simple survey after they purchase your goods or services. Find out things like why they bought your products, why they need them and what else they are looking to buy. Finding this out will also help you market to more new customers as you will be able to build up a profile of your customers and target your marketing to suit. You will also get an idea of what else they require for future sales. Another good idea is to give them the opportunity to leave their name and email address for special deals and updates. This allows you to send your customers regular newsletters, special offers, details of new products and greetings for occasions like Christmas and Easter.
What are their future needs?
By finding out the future needs of your customers, their problems, frustrations and desires you will put yourself in a better position by being able to target them with the right goods at the right place at the right time. They will also be more inclined to pull out their credit cards for someone they can trust especially if you have looked after them following their initial purchase. If you have their name and email address you can send them targeted special offers and information on new products that you already know will interest them.
Building customer relationship and follow-up.
All people who visit your website are potential customers. Some will stay and linger a bit, looking around your website to see what you have to offer. A good idea is to invite them to ask you about something they would like you to offer. Ask a simple question like “If you cannot find what you want please let me know by contacting us here?” Hyperlink the “here” so that they can click on it and fill out a simple form. As mentioned above also send regular emails to your customers with tips, ideas, articles and new products.
Lots of marketers forget about the people that buy their products and never contact them again. However they are not capitalizing on the relationship they have already built with that customer. Build this relationship for repeat sales by providing valuable information and reminding them of your expertise, that you are here and that you will help with other resources.
This is called follow-up and acts as a reminder to your customers of the good products and service you offer them. Do not assume they know what else you have to offer, tell them and also the benefits of them buying certain products. You want them to think of you for a solution when they think of their problem, frustration or desire. So follow them up with great value in the form of tips, suggestions, articles and ideas and how you can help them with their problem.
